Her area of research is the interface between Indian philosophy and Western fantasy fiction for children. Padma Malini Raghavan was a professor of English in Stella Maris College and is now retired. Her doctoral thesis focused on how post-colonial writers use myths to write back against the empire. She has published articles in reputed journals. Padma Seshadri obtained her master's degree in English Literature from Delhi University; a post graduate diploma in English Studies from the University of Leeds, where she went as a British Council scholar; and her doctorate from Madras University. She is deeply interested in the study of mythology and of ancient civilisations, but from a layman's perspective where boundaries between disciplines are blurred. She has authored short books and articles retelling myths for children and young readers.
